Our Counseling Department

We are Professional:

Our Counseling Department consist of highly skilled and experienced professional counselors. 

This includes LPC Counselors, LPC-Associates, Registered Play Therapist, LMFTs, and more.

We are Committed to Growing Future Counselors:

We have many Masters Level Students in training. Masters Level Students and LPC-Associates have a site supervisor, and they have completed core courses in counseling prior to beginning their clinical experience. We are passionate about raising up future counselors to serve in our community and abroad.

We are Christian:

All of our counselors are Christian members of local churches. Our counselors come from various denominations and ethnic backgrounds. However, all of our counselors adhere to a consistent Christian worldview. 

First Refuge Ministries is a Christian nonprofit organization, it is crucial for us to uphold our Christian values while lovingly and graciously interacting with the world around us. However, though we are Christian, our counselors adhere to a strict professional code of ethics and practice. 

We are Biblical:

We have a Biblical Counseling department. This department is separate from our Christian Counseling Department. Everyone who participates as counselors in our Biblical Counseling department have gone through our Equipped to Counsel training and have been certified in Biblical Counseling.

First Refuge Counseling and Education holds a partnership with the Association of Biblical Counselors, and is an official training site for ABC. 

We are Experienced:

Our Counseling Department is ready to meet your various counseling needs. We are not experts on every facet of the human experience of suffering and affliction, however we are knowledgeable and experienced in many areas.
